For More Wonder, Rewild the World
In this fascinating TED talk, environmental journalist and rewilding campaigner, George Monbiot explores the concept of rewilding and the “trophic cascade”. This ecological process pertains to the importance of restoring large carnivore populations, on land and in the sea, to balance ecosystems from the top of the food chain down, which has been demonstrated by the dramatic results of the reintroduction of wolves into Yellowstone National Park in 1995. Monbiot reminds us of the power of allowing nature to find its own way.
