Ken Albala, a Professor of History at the University of the Pacific is a food fanatic, and in his entertaining TED speech, he talks about how cooking is a spiritual activity. He stresses that most people are not cooking from scratch much any more and discusses how to bring out the intuitive cook in you; throw away the cookbooks and get creative.

He also reminds viewers of the obvious: home cooked meals are less expensive, taste better and cooking together creates community.
