Quick, grab a pen or pencil and a piece of paper. Now, list the top ten things you love about Planet Earth. It should be pretty easy because the Earth is so cool and has so many awesome things to offer. That said, here are my top ten favorites:
Beaches:
Rocky or sandy, I’ve never met a beach I didn’t like – unless it was covered with garbage (which was not the beach’s fault.)
Mountains:
They’re great places to hike in the summer, especially when the wildflowers are making an appearance.
Snow:
We don’t get much of it where I live, so I treasure every snow day we have.
Flowers:
I have so many blossoming favorites, I couldn’t pick just one.
Rocks:
My favorites are the agates that I find on the beach, shiny rocks that look like they’ve just come from a rock polisher.
Tide Pools:
I love how they look like mini-oceans chock full of sea creatures.
The Grand Canyon:
I’ve never been there, but I’d sure like to explore its trails.
Berries:
My favorite is the Northwest Native Blackberry. They make the best pies and jam.
Trees:
I especially like trees that smell good, such as cedar or pine.
Dogs:
A human’s best buddy. Whoever had the idea to tame (domesticate) wolves was one smart caveman.
Once I started thinking and listing ten things that I love about Earth, it was hard to put my pen down. I say we give Earth a big “shout out” for making all this wonderful stuff available to us.
