Males 18-34 targeted at Film Festival
Even before it was officially announced the winner, Lord of Recycling, an entry at last week’s Trailer Trashed Film Festival in Vancouver, Canada, had already gone viral, with over 30,000 hits after it was featured on Wired Magazine’s web site.
The second annual environmental shorts competition, produced by the Recycling Council of British Columbia (RSBC), called for this year’s entries to promote recycling, especially among 18-34-year-old males who, studies show, are the least likely to recycle. Last year in the province of British Columbia alone, over 280 million beverage containers didn’t make it back for recycling.
Let’s hope this winning “Lord of the Ring” parody by writer-director Kial Natale raises a lot of guy consciousness, sending them to the bins and saving the “shire.”
All the other Trailer Trashed entries can be seen here.
Anyone interested in participating in the 2012 contest should visit the Recycling Council website periodically to find out the new theme and other details. It’s a great opportunity to win prizes, save the environment and get experience as a filmmaker.
